I Love Me Some Me

When T.O. said it in an interview, everyone laughed and thought he was crazy. He used this statement to cover all of his narcissistic antics. However, if you remove his statement from his questionable actions, it really makes perfect sense. After all, who will love you more than you? Why shouldn’t you profess your love for yourself to the world?

We are quick to tell folks we love the Lord, our family, our significant other. Yet, we omit the most important relationship of all--your relationship with yourself. We make a point to tell our loved ones that we love them on a regular basis. But do we tell ourselves that just as often? Do we act as if we love ourselves?

The next chance you get, sit in the car or a room with nothing on and just “be” with yourself. Don’t think about work, school, family, or your significant other. Instead, dedicate five minutes to you with nothing to distract you. Let the thought of you sink in. Let the feeling of just “being” relax your mind. Get reacquainted with you. Get to know… you.

Reflect on your place in life and rededicate your life to you. This is not suggesting you become a self-absorbed type of person, but that you focus and shape yourself into the powerful individual you were intended to be. When you do, you will be surprised at how quickly many issues you have trouble dealing with become manageable; how easily the once unbearable stresses of life become endurable. And when you fall back in love with yourself, you will also be amazed at how much more those around you will love and appreciate you.

Until next time….
